Construction
A square for now
But soon an obelisk
Towering over trees
Erected with routine simplicity
Questions of structure
Are now questions of schedules
Rituals of awe and reverence
Replaced by fluoro vests
Claws bite rock and earth
Rivers of gray flow thickly
Into lakes of concrete
Festooned with steel reeds
Hollow caverns that soon
Will teem with families and warmth
Off the ground, in the air
Above the trees
